I'm tickled...ORANGE AND PURPLE!

So, I know this my second post of the day. But, I'm absolutely ecstatic after coming across this on Clemson's athletic website. Clemson is hands down my favorite college football team. And Terrance "T.A." Ashe is from my hometown, so imagine my excitement when I came across this and it mentioned my hometown so many times in the first paragraph. It sounds lame, but it just makes me proud to be a Clemson fan. Check out some tidbits from the article:

"Growing up in the small town of Cheraw, SC, Terrance Ashe, also known as "T.A." to his friends and teammates, was a multi-sport star. He excelled not only on the football field, but also on the baseball diamond at Cheraw High School. In fact as a junior, he helped lead the Cheraw High baseball squad to the state championship after an all-region season on the gridiron.
Ashe had a breakout season on the football field as a senior, when he scored 10 touchdowns, made the all-state team, and helped Cheraw High School win its first lowerstate title in 17 years. But even after this breakout senior season, Ashe still did not receive any scholarship offers. He had some contact with Coastal Carolina, Newberry, and Tusculum, who thought he would make a good walk-on, while a few Division II schools contacted him for baseball.
Knowing that he was going to have to walk on at any school he chose, Ashe decided to follow in the footsteps of his older brother and walk on at Clemson. Phillip was a walk-on defensive back for the Tigers when Terrance was in his youth. It was not only his older brother that led Ashe to Clemson"

Cliff Matthews, senior defensive end for the University of South Carolina (yes I know, how funny, Terrance and Cliff on rival teams), is also from my hometown. To read more about him, go here: Player Bio: Cliff Matthews

So I guess after this post, it's no surprise that I absolutely love college football. What's your favorite college football team? Are any of its players from your town? Why are you a fan of the team you like?

XOXO,

It's Sunday, Y'all!

You know what that means? It's almost Monday. I'm sure that y'all are dreading the week as much as I am. Fortunately, I have no school on Tuesday, which I'd usually be absolutely ecstatic about, which trust me, I still am, but I have to finish that project mentioned in the previous post. Oh, joy.

I was kind of disappointed to wake up today and learn that we were not going to church, because my mother was sick. I'm the kind of person who likes to get out and do things, so I wasn't exactly happy about staying home. Since I did not get to have the usual country buffet meal I usually would have gotten, it was pretty much left up to me to make some food. Which was no easy feat, because there is absolutely NO groceries in my household. But, I did manage to find some things to gather together and make a shrimp pasta. It was quite simple, and turned out quite delicious. All I did was boil the pasta, and sautee the shrimp. Other than that I just made a simple garlic butter sauce that I poured on top of the pasta noodles and the shrimp. I also added some feta and mozzarella cheese on top of it all, just for a little bit more flavor. I would have preferred to make shrimp fettuccine alfredo, but I didn't have the ingredients to make the alfredo sauce. So I just had to make-do with what I had. But aside from thinking up a recipe from the top of my head with nothing to go by, it must have been pretty decent, because my mama had almost finished her plate by the time I was just finishing fixing mine.

So, this fall, I'm all for a classy look. I really, really love the messy bun , and I am more than ready to try and recreate it myself. It looks so effortlessly put together, but for some reason to me, it just always looks so good, on anyone!

I also love the messy bun that includes braids. I haven't been able to get this hairstyle perfected yet, but I'm still working on it.

As for shoes, three words: EQUESTRIAN STYLE BOOTS. I'm absolutely in love with them, and in fact, I'm hoping to get my hands on the pair below in the near future.

You can get these at Macy's, like I hope to do so soon, for $99. They're just so versatile! You can wear them with jeans, and if you have the right dress, it's an absolutely adorable combination.

And since I live in the South, and it's still around 75 where I live, this dress by Judith March is still suitable for the weather. If I had $108 at the moment, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy it. I'm so in love with this "Ruffled By The Game" dress, it's perfectly fun and fabulous! You can find this dress, along with other Judith March dresses on The Red Dress Boutique website.

I also adore red wool coats for when the weather gets a little bit cooler. This one from Old Navy is on sale for $60, and is super feminine with its ruffles, but unfortunately out of stock in my size.

And last but not least, PEARLS. They're just a year round staple for any Southern belle! Whether in bracelet, earring, or necklace form, you can never go wrong with them! And if you're looking for cute sorority or gameday pearls, head on over to The Gameday Girls website. They also have special order requests available.

So, now that y'all know some of the items on my fall wish list, what looks and styles are y'all into this fall?

Hope y'all have a great Monday, and a great start to the week ahead!
XOXO,

Le Week-end

So, since I had Friday off from school, you would think I would have slept in, right? No. I swear I can't sleep past 9 in the morning anymore, even on weekends. The only thing that interested me yesterday was the new episode of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team 5. Now, I absolutely love this show! I wish a new episode came on more than once a week, it is so strangely addicting. All of those girls are like toothpicks! I also made time in my not so busy schedule to make some cupcakes that I've been meaning to make since last Thursday. They are so cute! Cupcakes are like my favorite things in the world. So I made funfetti cupcakes with vanilla frosting and colorful sprinkles. It was almost a disaster though, because an egg yolk accidentally slid in to the mix. I ended up getting the yolk out with a spoon, and I must have been a tad absent-minded at the moment, because I put the yolk back in the shell and put the shell back in to the carton. This resulted in egg yolk going everywhere in the carton, and it wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to clean up. Well, apart from my near cupcake fiasco from almost ruining the mix with a yolk, they turned out pretty decent.

Anyways, so now I'm at my grandmother's once again, supposed to be doing a Government project, but blogging is so much more intriguing than Modern Conservatism and the Republican Party from 1952-Present. It's one of those group projects where you know if anything is going to get done, you'll have to do it yourself. I'm waiting on my grandma to make good old breakfast for dinner. It is my absolute favorite! She's slow cooking grits and sausage, along with some scrambled eggs and toast. Isn't my life so exciting y'all? I really need some motivation for doing this project of mine, but it's just not happening. I have this grand idea for the poster. I want to make it really cute, but not too cute because unfortunately my two other partners are guys. So, I guess I will just have to stick to a really clean design, but I think glitter will somehow manage to make its way on to the board. I'll definitely have to post a picture of it when it gets done because knowing me, I'll spend entirely too much time on it perfecting it.

And as for tomorrow...well what would be a southern Sunday without church? Of course I'm going. I guess that just goes along with living in the Bible Belt, as my Government teacher would say.

Right now I'm watching Florida and Georgia in overtime, though I'm not a fan of either team. Clemson all the way, even though they're not as good as they have been in the past. And I'm seeing way too many political advertisements during the duration of this game. Which wouldn't be too bad if every commercial wasn't slamming another politician, it's dirty tactics, and quite frankly annoying in my opinion...AND FLORIDA WINS. 34-31 final over Georgia in overtime.

And just a random thought, but South Carolina's weather has not been very fall like, y'all. It's been really hot and humid, and raining tons. All the dreariness of the weather has made me want a Lilly Pulitzer umbrella.

How cute is it? It's $28.95 on Lilly Pulitzer's website, which is a pretty penny in my opinion for an umbrella, but I would buy it. It's super colorful, and would brighten any gloomy day. Fall's colors are just way too dull for me anyways. So I'm on the look for some cute Fall clothes that will brighten the hallways at school. I'd honestly love to have a few pieces from Lilly Pulitzer, but the high prices are a tad unreasonable for me. So I will have to scope out colorful clothes at bargain prices for the moment, and I'll let you know how that search goes.

Anyways, I'm super excited because I went to a local store in my town on Tuesday, which sells some of the cutest things ever. My eyes immediately went to a hot pink suitcase with lime green polka dots, and a lime green bow. Imagine my excitement! And it was on sale, too! I do believe that I will probably be getting this monogrammed for Christmas. I'm so happy! I don't even know what I will do with a suitcase, since I don't travel much, but it sure will brighten up my room with its adorableness.

I suppose I should probably stop procrastinating and work on this project. Bleh, project. Just that word sounds like such a drag. Projects drain the fun out of everything. But, it has to be done.

XOXO,

So...

(this blog is from Thursday, October 28th, 2010. Completed and published on Saturday, October 30th, 2010.)

I'm quite aware that my blog looks less than snazzy until I feel like creating a new layout or whatever. But anyways, this is my first time blogging EVER. So I guess I will begin my blog by discussing my day.

School was a drag, as always, but I woke up quite happy knowing that I don't have to go to school tomorrow (thank God for teacher work days!). It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but we did have a pep rally for the band, which was quite odd, but due to this season's football team at my school not performing to their usual standards, this pep rally seemed a tad peppier than those for the football team. But this pep rally did make me miss when I was on homecoming court at the beginning of October (so sad I didn't have a blog then, or I would have made a blog about my homecoming experience...)

So after school, I went to my town's Super Wal-Mart, which is like our county's mall, because our county is so pitifully boring and small that we only have one Wal-Mart in it. I had to pick up some poster board for a project that is due soon, and I saw the CUTEST poster board ever. I just had to get it. I don't even know what I will do with it, but I'm sure I'll come up with a grand idea eventually.

After going to Wal-Mart, I went over the river and through the woods to my grandmother's house. Not really, just down a main highway. I was so excited because she completely surprised me with a Vanilla Cupcake Yankee Candle, with the matching lip balm! I already have the lip balm that I got a few weeks ago, but I love it so much half of it is already gone. She must have felt generous because she also ordered me A Southern Belle Primer: Or Why Princess Margaret Will Never Be a Kappa Kappa Gamma by Maryln Schwartz. It has great reviews, and I've heard that it is a must for any Southern lady to read, so I highly recommend it to anyone who has not read it.

On another note, I am super excited for the holidays! I love everything about the holidays. The food, the presents, the atmosphere, it is just simply my favorite time of the year. This year for gifts, I'm making each of my friends a personalized ornament. Each ornament is lime green, and will be decorated with a hot pink and white polka dot bow, along with their initials monogrammed in hot pink! They will also get a cute little cupcake ornament, all in a takeout style box. I got one half of the takeout boxes in a cute polka dot design, and the other half in stripes. I'm so ready to get started on this project of mine.

This isn't exactly what it looks like but it's definitely where my inspiration for the gifts came from. For those not as creative, you can get one like the one above at The Polka Dot Gift Shoppe for $9 each.

XOXO,
